Pianist Joey Lunsford is a 1988 graduate of the Berklee College of Music in Boston. After a stint as Musical Director for Holland America Cruise Lines, he moved to New York in 1999 and has since been actively performing and teaching in the area.
Joey has been the staff pianist for the Berkeley Carroll School in Brooklyn since 2004, and also keeps a busy schedule with various national touring acts. He was on the Stevie Nicks 2011 US tour, opening the act with Epic recording artist Michael Grimm, winner of NBC’s “America’s Got Talent” television show.
Joey also performs with “Bruce in the USA”, a theatric rock tribute to the music of Bruce Springsteen. In addition, he is working with another project, “Epic Queen”, a London-based touring company that pits a rock band and vocalists with full orchestra support, appearing with the Colorado Philharmonic Orchestra, the Rochester Symphony, and many other major orchestras across the US.
Although principally a pianist, Joey is also an accomplished Hammond B3 player, accordionist, and performs on and teaches many computer-based virtual instrument and recording applications, including Apple Garage Band, Mainstage, Propellerhead Reason, MOTU Digital Performer, Ableton Live, and Native Instruments Komplete.
Joey currently resides in Brooklyn, NY with his wife and three children- Ruby, age 12, who attends I.S. 239 Mark Twain School for the Gifted and Talented, Faron, age 7, and Millie, age 4, who both attend P.S. 193 The Gil Hodges School.
